Foundry Capabilities
Apex Pumps – Precision Alloys foundry a modern facility specialising in bespoke carbon, stainless, high alloy steel and Nickel alloy casting. Using the latest casting technique, Replicast® an inert ceramic shell process that delivers investment quality castings on a much larger and far heavier scale than can be achieved with the current lost wax technology. Ideally suited to high integrity pressure containing components such as pumps and valves.
The foundry utilises a 300 Kg Meltech induction furnace. Dimensional window of 1 metre cubed casting box.
Replicast® Key Points – No parting lines – No cores – No draft angles – Dimensionally precise – Excellent surface finish – Polystyrene replicas can be glued together to create complex geometries – Extends the quality and precision of investment casting to larger components – Suitable for ultra low carbon stainless steel and nickel based alloys.

Materials
Grade Examples General properties and examples of application
Carbon steels
ASTM A216 WCB
ASTM A352 LCB
These grades have higher strengths, low temperature impact properties or high temperature creep resistance.
Austenitic stainless steels
ASTM A351 CF8 (304)
ASTM A351 CF8M (316)
Give resistance too many common corrosive environments and considered to be the best general purpose stainless steels.
Duplex and Super Duplex
ASTM A890 1B
ASTM A890 4A
ASTM A890 5A
ASTM A890 6A
High strength combined with corrosion resistance in a number of more demanding environments, the duplex stainless steel range of materials may be considered. Their duplex austenite–ferrite structure provides much better strength of CF8M (316) stainless and far superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking.
Nickel based alloys
Hastalloy A,
Hastalloy B,
Alloy 625,
Providing excellent resistance to corrosion, high temperatures and combinations of both where strength is not paramount. Alloys such as the Hastalloy Nickel alloys offer corrosion resistance severest environments encountered in chemical processing and pollution control.
Other alloys available on request.
